A couple so distraught with trying to live on £57.50 a week in a run down council house were found dead lying beside each other.
With no heating, and having to walk six miles a day for free vegetables, their quality of life was unbearable.
Having lost their daughter, the will to live had left them

As you know we have been the preferred contractor for RT Express since 2006, but until I saw a post on blogspot about RFT’s Corporate Social Responsibility nobody at Yorkshire Couriers realised how involved RFT was with the local community. We were surprised at how much voluntary work the staff did in their own time, this year a group escorted some disadvantaged children on a walk up the Three Peaks, and some even gave up several days holiday to take children on a holiday to Centre Parks. Others help out at clubs run for these children in the evening.
The staff has not been encouraged by RFT to give up their time in this way; they have all done it of their own accord. The inspiration probably came from the work that RFT do in this field. As we said when Yorkshire Courier was integrated into the RFT Family, it’s a good place to work.
The article Outline of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and RFT’s Stance was actually written by an under graduate who joined RFT Express for the summer recess. He has promised to write more articles once he has his degree.
It is the culture of helping anybody which RFT Express adopts that helps nurture the good feeling within the company. I have listened into to some of the mentoring sessions of Vic Farron, and suggested he write more about these activities to help many more people, as with everything it is a case of ‘time permitting’.

Introduction to Yorkshire Couriers
The Yorkshire Courier was formed during the last century targeting national and international companies with multiple depots across the UK and Europe. The strategy used was simple, our rate was £1 per mile from base, because we had so many depots, warehouses and distribution points on our books, we could invariable obtain return loads. This helped us to keep costs down, but more importantly, the climate benefited with less emissions. In 2006 we were contracted by RFT Express to run their innovative ‘ M1 Shuttle ’. No one expected this service to take off at the extent and speed which it did, We had to subcontract several runs to Couriers in Yorkshire . To benefit from scale, and cost cutting it was decided to incorporate both Yorkshire Couriers and couriers in Yorkshire into the RFT Express Family. RFT Express is a well respected brand, with a large client base in both the UK and Europe, specialising in the distribution of Hanging Garments Being part of the ‘RFT Express Family’ further reduces back office costs, enabling Yorkshire Couriers to service smaller companies who can take advantage of our professional services, when they don’t have the volumes of traffic required on a contract basis. Even if you are only a small company moving 2 or 3 pallets a month, you can still access these great rates. RFT
